Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)

Horrabridge Primary and Nursery School has an inclusive ethos and we aim to support and meet the needs of all our pupils.  

We currently have pupils with a range of special needs including cognitive and learning difficulties, communication and interaction difficulties, including those on the autistic spectrum, pupils with sensory difficulties and pupils with social, emotional mental health difficulties. 

HPNS is an accessible site with double doors, ramps and an accessible parking bay.  We also have two lifts ensuring access to all levels of our school building.

We liaise with outside agencies where needed and endeavour to do our best for every child. Our special needs co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Hannah Downing but all staff would be happy to discuss any concerns you have at any time so that we can support all our children so they can learn, progress and be happy. Mrs Downing works Monday - Thursday and is a dedicated 'out of class' SENDCo, ensuring that any SEND needs are responded to efficiently and in a timely manner.

Talented, Able and Gifted Pupils

At Horrabridge PNS, we recognise when children shine!  

Whether it is in an academic subject, in sports, music or in their ability to debate, we notice our children's achievements and enrich their experience during their journey through school. This may be within school or by using opportunities outside school e.g. with one of our feeder secondary schools such as Tavistock College or with special ‘one off’ chances at settings such as Marjon or Plymouth University.
